Description
Since 2005, when the original “ball that bounces on water” was invented in Sweden, the brand has been dedicated to creating fun, innovative products that transform the way people play, bringing families, friends, and even dogs together to unplug and enjoy active time outdoors from the beach to the pool, lake, park, and beyond. The ball bounces on water because of its unique design, materials, and the physics of hydrodynamics. Water-bouncing balls (like the original Waboba ball) are made from soft, elastic, gel-like materials that deform on impact. When the ball hits the water, it flattens slightly, increasing surface area and creating a momentary planing effect, similar to how a skipping stone skims the surface. Instead of sinking, the ball slides across the top layer of water, and the elastic material quickly snaps back into shape, giving it the lift needed to bounce forward. This combination of flexibility, buoyancy, and hydrodynamic design allows the ball to skip and bounce on water rather than sink.
