Description
When fish are transported, introduced into a new tank or when their tank is cleansed, they undergo a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety. The fish swim against objects in the tank or into the tank itself. In most cases the fish cause harm to themselves and to the other fish in their environment. Sadly, this leads to bacterial or fungal infections and even to death. Malawian cichlids are particularly prone to diseases as they can be very aggressive towards their tank mates.
