JOB OVERVIEW
The Floor Supervisor (Second-in-Charge) supports the Branch Manager in overseeing daily operations of the retail store. This role ensures smooth execution of sales, staff management, customer service, merchandising, and compliance. The Floor Supervisor acts as the branch leader in the absence of the Branch Manager, driving performance and maintaining high standards of customer and sales floor standards.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the branch manager in planning and directing the day-to-day activities of the branch.
- Drive daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets through active floor leadership
- Monitor sales performance, provide coaching, and implement plans to reverse negative trends
- Lead by example in customer engagement, upselling, conversion and pushing business initiatives
- Ensure excellent customer satisfaction and manage the customer experience at point of sale.
- Execute promotions, campaigns and company initiatives effectively
- Seek opportunities to promote the store, products and services.
- Support onboarding, training, and continuous development of staff.
- Ensure staff compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards
- Mentor and inspire team members in customer service and product knowledge
- Create and manage employee schedules to ensure adequate store coverage
- Oversee personnel management, including selective HR duties
- Act as the Branch manager when required, ensuring continuity of leadership
- Maintain store attractiveness, cleanliness, and presentability.
- Ensure products displays align with merchandising guidelines
- Execute markdowns, doing checks on stock to reduce the short, dated stock in store
- Implement and conduct stock counts in line with business direction
- Ensure FIFO stock rotation and monitor expiry dates to minimize losses.
- Execute and follow up on inventory shrinkage improvement program.
- Safeguard company assets and enforce loss prevention measures
- Enforce cash handling, security, and loss prevention procedures.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
- Oversee fish welfare practices, ensuring proper care and adherence.
- Ensure all staff comply with company policies and procedures
- Provide regular updates to the Branch Manager on sales, staff performance, and operational issues
- Support effective communication between management and staff
- Contribute to planning and execution of branch strategies
- Ensure that all staff are adequately trained to carry out their respective roles.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Matric certificate
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office programs, specifically Outlook and Excel
- Good level of skill on retail ERP programs
- 5-7 years retail management experience
