Pond Medic Algae Straw is a natural, environmentally friendly solution for preventing algae and blanket weed growth in large ponds and water features. As the straw gradually breaks down, it releases beneficial micro-organisms and natural compounds that help inhibit algae formation while improving water clarity, oxygen penetration, and overall biological balance. This non-chemical approach supports a healthier pond ecosystem and provides reliable, long-term algae prevention. The 1 kg bundle is designed to treat ponds up to 90,000 litres and offers effective protection for up to three months. For optimum results, Algae Straw should be placed in a well-oxygenated area with strong water movement, such as near a waterfall, fountain, or pump outlet. Activation typically occurs within 2–4 weeks, depending on water temperature, after which it works continuously to help prevent algae blooms before they develop. The bundle should remain floating at all times and be replaced every three months to maintain ongoing protection. Do not use chemical algaecides while Algae Straw is present, and if chemical treatment is required, remove the straw and wait at least two weeks before reintroducing it. For seamless algae control, new bundles should be installed 2–4 weeks before the old bundles are removed.
