Pond Medic Algae Straw is a natural, environmentally friendly solution for preventing algae and blanket weed growth in ponds and water features. As the straw gradually decomposes, it releases beneficial micro-organisms and natural compounds that help inhibit algae development while promoting improved water clarity, oxygen penetration, and biological activity. This non-chemical treatment offers long-term algae control and supports a healthier, more balanced pond ecosystem. The 300 g bundle is designed to treat ponds up to 27,000 litres and provides effective protection for up to three months. For best results, Algae Straw should be positioned in an area with strong water circulation and oxygenation, such as near a waterfall, pump outlet, or fountain. The product typically takes 2–4 weeks to activate, depending on water temperature, and then works continuously to help prevent algae blooms before they start. The bundle must remain floating and should be replaced every three months to maintain ongoing protection. Avoid using chemical algaecides while Algae Straw is present, and if chemical treatment is necessary, remove the straw and wait at least two weeks before reintroducing it.
