Comprehensive Animal Care
Upon arrival, each animal at Wet Nose undergoes a thorough medical examination at their on-site clinic. This includes vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, and sterilisation. The clinic not only caters to the resident animals but also offers affordable veterinary services to the public, with all proceeds directly supporting the shelter’s operations.

Equestrian Centre
Recognising the need to assist larger animals, Wet Nose inaugurated its Equestrian Centre in October 2019. This facility focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating horses, donkeys, and other farm animals in distress, providing them with the necessary care and shelter.

Adoption Process
Wet Nose is committed to finding suitable homes for its animals. The adoption process includes a pre-adoption home inspection to ensure a safe environment for the pet. Adoption fees cover essential services such as sterilisation, microchipping, vaccinations and deworming. They also offer a veterinary examination, ensuring that every adopted pet is healthy and ready for their new home.
Through unwavering dedication and community support, Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre continues to make a significant impact on animal welfare in South Africa, providing countless animals with a second chance at life.

Community Engagement and Support
Operating without government or municipal funding, Wet Nose relies heavily on the generosity of the public. Supporters can contribute through various means, such as adopting pets, making donations, sponsoring kennels or stables, volunteering, or utilizing the centre’s services like the animal clinic and boarding facilities. Additionally, Wet Nose offers venues for events and educational programs, fostering a compassionate community for animal welfare.
Wetnose has been a valuable beneficiary of the Pet & Pool Group (especially the Middelburg & Emalahleni branches) for over six years. With the help of our loyalty customers, we are able to donate thousands of rands to assist Wet Nose with taking care of their animals. Recently, Pet & Pool was fortunate to be part of a fund-raising event where Wet Nose collected over 300 blankets from PET Pool & Fire Boksburg for their furry babies. These blankets will ensure that their rescued animals remain warm and comfortable, especially during the upcoming colder months. Contributions like these make a significant difference in the lives of the animals in their care and highlight the importance of community support in animal welfare efforts.
How can YOU help?
Wet Nose welcomes volunteers who can assist in various ways, including walking dogs, grooming, brushing horses, socializing with animals, cleaning kennels, snuggling with one of the fur babies and helping with feeding routines. Additionally, Wet Nose often needs volunteers for fundraising events, administrative tasks, and maintenance work around the shelter.
If you are interested in volunteering, you can reach out to Wet Nose via their website or visit the centre to find out how you can get involved.
